FARBAL packaging machines
ENERGY SAVINGS
Beyond the financial aspect, energy consumption has a direct impact on the environment on a daily basis. Accordingly, with the aim of obtaining less energy-consuming Farbal machines without affecting their performance, Farbal has developed a new programming system in economic heating mode that concerns the sealing bar and the shrink tunnel (the latter benefiting from complete insulation all around the oven with high-performance mineral wool, thus offering a very high energy efficiency with a minimum of heat loss).
Two heating modes are now possible on FARBAL machines:
1/ The standard mode.
2/ The economy (ECO) mode.
The selection of these modes is made from the HMI page via push button with/without ECO
TUNNEL heating (see below at the bottom of the screen shot).
1/ The standard mode
When the sealing bar and the tunnel are heated, all contactors are switched on at the same
time. The heating time of the tunnel is estimated to be about 30 minutes, with a peak
current at the maximum of the nominal value.
E.g.: for a tunnel with a 60kW power (nominal 90A), the maximum current will be 90A.
Average consumption of 60kW/h during the temperature rise time.
Average consumption of 40kW/h during the packaging process (stabilized mode).
2/ The economy (ECO) mode
When the sealing bar and the tunnel are heated, all contactors are switched on in turn in
order to limit the current peak. The heating time is longer but the peak current is limited to
half the nominal peak current. The heating time of the tunnel is then estimated to be about
45-50 minutes.
During the heat-up phase or in case of no production during a programmed time, the
turbines and the speed of the conveyors are also slowed down to reduce the consumption of
energy.
E.g.: for a tunnel with a 60kW power (nominal 90A), the maximum current will be 45A.
Average consumption of 30kW/h during the temperature rise time.
Average consumption of 30kW/h during the packaging process (stabilized mode).
N.B. : This programming is optimized with a well maintained/set Farbal machine, operating in a suitable environment (free of draughts and at normal temperature).
